the other 6 days

This isn’t just a tagline, it’s my personal mission. Practice Better, Learn Better, come to the lesson more prepared, make more progress. It’s that simple and it’s that big. Everything I publish, everything I put out is to support this mission. Why? I am a teacher, I am a parent and I am a cellist who group up without much money and without a lot of resources. Through the generosity of an Amazing Human Being, my first cello teacher, I was able to get lessons. He didn’t charge us, he knew we were poor. If he hadn’t existed where would I be? There were no resources, there was no internet, there was no YouTube. My goal is to be what he was to me, support students on their journey. I was 14 when I began those lesson but they weren’t every week. I didn’t have weekly lessons till I was a cello major at age 19. I needed help, I needed extra support throughout the week to catch up. But in 1996 those things didn’t exist. They do now and so our students don’t have to wade in the dark, practice poorly and get poor results and keep coming to us unprepared.

On day 7 your student needs you, more than they need any other teacher. You matter to them more than anything else in their musical life and there is nothing that should try and take that away or come between it.

On the other 6 days, when they are practicing and playing cello without you, do you want them practicing well? Do you want them to have a guide on their practice journey? Do you want them to make faster progress?

Better Faster Progress for our students. We all have the same dream. We can now make it a reality. Day 7 is yours as only you can make it. Its special and it shouldn’t change. The other 6 days… let’s build that dream together.

My Approach

What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. I am proud of all the videos and downloads on the channel and it is my mission to give the absolute best information to students. Students need support, they need to learn how to learn. That has always been a challenge of the discipline of learning music, that practicing is a discipline unto itself. I want to help their practicing be more productive, more efficient and come to you and I more prepared, more ready to make music out in the worl.
